Mission
The Division of Behavioral Sciences, Professionalism and Ethics is committed to discovering and disseminating knowledge to reduce the challenges to optimal health care and health care delivery. Specifically, we are committed to educating our students at all levels to become highly competent, ethical, humane and successful health care providers for diverse populations and practice settings, with a focus on Behavioral Sciences, Professionalism, and Ethics. The division provides education in behavioral principles, communication skills, and cultural competency necessary to provide quality health care to a diverse patient population. The professionalism and ethics curriculum prepares students for an ethical and successful career. The division also provides services to address academic, emotional, and professional socialization issues impacting the quality of campus life.

Linda Centore PhD, RN – (o) 415.502.6301. Health Sciences Clinical Professor. Expertise with an educational focus on: doctor-patient relationship, history taking & interviewing, conflict resolution, dental fear management. She also provides clinical patient care for those with medical and dental behavioral issues including pain, anxiety, dental fear, and tinnitus.
Barbara Gerbert PhD – (o) 415.502.7283. Professor, Research Topics: reducing risky health practices, such as tobacco cessation, domestic violence prevention, risky sexual behaviors in primary care, prenatal, HIV, and oral health care settings.
